Redmi 5G enabled phones and their prices in Kenya

5G is finally here with us after Safaricom announced the commercial launch of its 5G network in select parts across the country.  The telco has indicated that so far, they have 35 5G sites spread across the country but they plan to expand this to more than 150 across nine towns.

Now that 5G has been launched commercially, people have started shopping for 5G enabled phones to enable them to enjoy the benefits of the network. I attended the launch and i have to say that i was envious of those who had 5G phones because they were experiencing some crazy download speeds clocking up to 250 Mbps. For comparison, the maximum download speed that you can get on 4G is about 100 Mbps.

The downside of having the new network is that 5G enabled phones are generally expensive and out of the reach of the majority of the people. However, there is no need to worry as Xiaomi which is known for quality, but affordable phones have a 5G smartphone for each category.

Check out the devices available in the Kenyan market;
