How to register for Kasneb exams

The Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board (KASNEB) is one of the boards that is mandated to create syllabuses and conduct professional, post-professional, diploma and certificate examinations on a wide range of disciplines including accounting, law, governance and IT. The board was established in 1969 and is recognized both locally and internationally in institutions such as the World Bank.

Requirements to apply for KASNEB Examinations 

Requirements vary depending on the course you wish to undertake. However, the minimum qualifications to apply for KASNEB examinations are:

Professional examinations

  • Minimum grade of C+ (C Plus) or its equivalent in KCSE
  • Minimum grade of C in 6 papers in IGCSE
  • KASNEB technician, diploma or professional examination certificate
  • Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (KACE) with at least TWO principal passes
  • A degree from a recognized university
  • Post-professional examinations
  • A degree from a recognized university
  • KASNEB professional qualifications

Diploma examinations

  • Minimum grade of C- (C Minus) or its equivalent in KCSE
  • Minimum grade of D in IGCSE
  • KASNEB technician, diploma or professional examination certificate
  • Certificate examinations
  • Minimum grade of D (D Plain) or its equivalent in KCSE

Process to apply for KASNEB Examinations

  • Download and fill the application form in blue or black ink
  • Upload the relevant documents ie passport photo, certified copies of KCSE, university degree, and other certificates, identification documents such as ID card or passport
  • Agree to the terms and condition the click Submit
  • Click on Proceed to Payment to view your invoice
  • Make your payment through MPESA or bank

  • Once approved, you will recieve your student registration details via email

Exemption application

  • Before booking an exam, it’s recommended to register for KASNEB exams
  • Tap on the sidebar menu and select KASNEB Exemptions then select Exemptions Application tab
  • Read the exemptions policy to see the units you qualify for exemption and the requirements
  • Upload the relevant certificates and transcripts
  • On a approved, an invoice will be generated
  • Click the notification to make payments
  • Once the payment is processed, you will be able to download an exemption letter from your email

Examination booking application

  • Tap on the navigation bar and select Student Booking then select Examination Booking
  • Select your preferred exam sitting then click Next
  • Select the papers you want to take and delete the ones you don’t
  • Select your preferred exam center
  • Agree to the terms and conditions then click Submit
  • Click on Proceed to Payment to make your payment
  • Once processed, you will receive your booking receipt via email

Other important things to note

  • If your application is rejected due to lack of supporting documents, you can reattach the appropriate documents and await approval.
  • The annual registration renewal fee is due on 1st July
  • Accounts of students who don’t book exams in three years are deactivated and can be deactivated after paying the deactivation and renewal fees
  • There are three sittings per year in April, August and November. Registration for May exams close on 31st March and for November exams close on 30th September
  • Papers range between Ksh 1,000 – Ksh 6,600
  • Students are advised to attend tuition in KASNEB approved institutions. They include
  • Application forms are only valid if your annual registration fee is up to date
  • Initial registration, examination and renewal fees cost Ksh 95,000. The annual registration renewal fee is Ksh 15,000 and examination booking (single paper) is Ksh 20,000.
  • Annual renewal fee for certificate, diploma and professional papers is Ksh 1,500 and reactivating fee is Ksh 2,000
