Ryan Njuguna and Ashley Gachora emerge as winners during NCBA US Kids Golf Spring Tour

Ryan Njuguna and Ashley Gachora emerged as winners at the Royal Nairobi Golf Club. This was during the latest leg of the NCBA US Kids Golf Spring Tour.

In the Boys 12 category, Ryan Njuguna carded an impressive one-under-par 71 to clinch victory. Njuguna hit a bogey on the opening hole, but he settled and played level par through the rest of the front nine. He stepped up his game on the back nine, sinking birdies on holes 13 and 17 while maintaining par on the remaining holes for a composed finish.

Njuguna’s victory propels him to fifth in the overall standings heading into the championship round at Muthaiga Golf Club on May 25th.

Shuhan Peng, placed second at Royal with a score of 73, currently leads the standings with 160 points. While Adam Nesbitt finished third with a 79, sits second overall with 140 points. Both will be looking to secure the title at Muthaiga, where double points will be on offer.

In the Girls 11–12 category, Ashley Gachora, caddied by her father John Gachora, also impressed with a winning score of 75. She had a strong front nine, carding a birdie and a bogey to finish level par.

On the back nine, she added another birdie but three bogeys raised her score to 39, giving her a gross total of 75.

“I was aiming for 72, but I messed up on hole 8 with a double bogey. Still, I’m feeling OK because I finished with a birdie on hole 9,” said Gachora.

Siqian Yu and Muthoni Kioi tied for second with rounds of 79, followed by Ashley Muyela in fourth and championship leader Chloe Chiuri in fifth. Chiuri continues to lead the standings with 134 points.

Yu has now moved into second place with 98 points, followed by Aria Dodhia (94), Muyela (92), and Gachora, who climbs into the top five with 87.5 points.

With just 46.5 points separating the top five—and only 10.5 points between second and fifth—the championship round promises a thrilling conclusion, especially with double points in play.
