The 2024 festival will feature performances from Sauti Sol, Rhumba maestros such as Them Mushrooms, Les Wanyika and Suzanna Owiyo as well as a host of new school arbantone artists.
The KES 15.5 million sponsorship from Safaricom includes cash and in-kind support that will go towards enhancing the overall festival experience, while M-PESA will come on board to enable seamless payments for ticketing and merchandise transactions.
“At Safaricom, we are keen to transform the lives of Kenyans, especially by supporting passion points such as music, arts, and sports. By sponsoring this year’s SolFest, we seek to celebrate our rich musical diversity and be part of a memorable festival that will entertain Kenyans from all walks of life,” said Dr. Peter Ndegwa, CEO, Safaricom PLC.
Since the first edition of SolFest in 2022, the festival has positioned itself as a platform for artists to connect with fans, showcase their creativity, and highlight Kenya as a key destination for live entertainment.
Over the years, Safaricom has continued to invest in developing Kenya’s music scene by giving local artistes a chance to showcase their skills via assets such as Safaricom Kenya Live, Niko na Safaricom Live, Groove Awards and Twaweza Live among others.
In more recent years, Safaricom has also transformed the lives of thousands of youths across the country through initiatives such as the Safaricom Jazz Festival, the Safaricom Youth Orchestra, and Ghetto Classics, while platforms such as Skiza and Baze Music continue to empower artists to earn a living from their content.
