KCB Foundation to empower youth in Wundanyi Constituency

KCB Foundation in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation has teamed up with Wundanyi Constituency Fund in a bid to empower young people.

The initiative which is being run under the under the 2Jiajiri Program will equip the youth with technical and vocational skills aimed at creating sustainable employment opportunities.

The initiative was officially commissioned by Wundanyi Member of Parliament, Hon. Danson Mwashako Mwakuwona, marks the first cohort of 96 youth recruits drawn from the constituency. The trainees will undergo market-driven training in collaboration with three partner institutions, including Wumingu Technical and Vocational College, Taita Taveta National Polytechnic, and Mwagafwa Vocational Training Center.

KCB Foundation Director Mendi Njonjo reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to empowering communities, saying, “Today, we are once again demonstrating our dedication to nurturing talent and creating opportunities. The 96 trainees here will join the larger pool of KCB Foundation program participants who have been trained, equipped with technical skills, and prepared for entrepreneurial success.”

The 2Jiajiri program by KCB Foundation is driving shared prosperity and job creation in Kenya by empowering young people and women with the skills, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive in today’s economy. Through vocational training scholarships, support for small and growing businesses, and access to vital capital, the program is unlocking potential, creating employment, and strengthening communities across the country.

On his part, Wundanyi Constituency Member of Parliament Hon. Danson Mwashako Mwakuwona said: “This partnership between KCB Foundation, Mastercard Foundation, and NG-CDF is a game-changer for Wundanyi. It offers our young people the chance to acquire practical skills, transition into employment, and build businesses that will uplift our local economy.”

The collaboration demonstrates the power of partnerships in creating employment, enhancing livelihoods, and driving inclusive economic growth. By bringing together the 2Jiajiri Program with government structures such as NG-CDF, the programme is equipping youth with life skills, entrepreneurship training, and financial literacy, tools essential for long-term success.
