This is Digital launches an AI literacy program

This is Digital hosted an AI Appreciation breakfast under the theme “The Age of AI: A Reality Check” last week. This was in celebration of the International Artificial Intelligence Appreciation Day.

The breakfast convened an intimate group of thought leaders, innovators, and professionals to reflect on how artificial intelligence is reshaping lives, industries, and societies across Africa. Attendees experienced a rich program featuring keynote speaker Moses Kemibaro from Dotsavvy, and contributions from notable voices such as Susan Makau (International School of Advertising), Hon Ndindi Nyoro, MP Kiharu Constituency and Roseline Njogu, Principal Secretary, State Department for Diaspora affairs.

Other panel members were Eugene Mbugua -Founder D&R Studios (Unpacking entertainment and AI), Caroline Kendi Founder – CK Marketing (Unpacking Marketing and AI), Dr. Catherine Gathu – Head of Family Medicine, Aga Khan University (Unpacking Medicine and AI) and Philip Muigai – Digital Learning Developer, Cloud Factory. (Unpacking HR and AI).

Panel discussion

Following the breakfast, This is Digital will launch its AI Literacy Program on August 5, 2025. The program is aimed at equipping professionals, entrepreneurs, students, and educators with practical and ethical AI knowledge.

The program is structured as follows:

  • Online AI Bootcamp: August 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th (Tuesdays), 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
  • In-Person AI Bootcamp: August 27th, August 28th and August 29th, 2025
  • Ongoing Monthly Cohorts: New sessions every month, both online and in-person

With Kenya ranked 6th in Africa for AI readiness (2024 Oxford Insights AI Readiness Index), the country is well-positioned for initiatives like this, which empower communities to not only adopt but shape the AI-driven future.
