Tusker Octobafest

Tusker Oktobafest, the annual festival at the heart of Kenya’s beer story

The Tusker Oktobafest has taken Germany’s renowned Oktoberfest and given it a Kenyan twist. Since 2019, Eabl has made it a purely Kenyan experience of local beer and culture, changing how we think about and enjoy our brews.

Gone are the days when beer meant just one thing. Now, the choices are endless. While that cold lager will always hit different after a long day, more Kenyans are embracing variety. Stouts, ales, even ciders are getting attention from those seeking fresh tastes. And Oktobafest is the ultimate wonderland. From the familiar classics to exciting new flavours, beer enthusiasts are spoilt for choice.

Remember when beer was strictly for unwinding after work? Those days are behind us. Now we’re pairing our brews with everything from Saturday brunch to Sunday lunch. I pulled up to Oktobafest and saw vendors getting creative with pairings. Ever tried a dark brew with those spicy samosas? Or just a cold one with nyama choma? These combinations will always have you looking at beer differently.

Oktobafest 2024 came through with some next level serve options. I couldn’t get enough of the beer cocktails. They’d make you rethink everything you thought you knew about your favourite drink.

But let’s keep it one hundred. Oktobafest was about more than just drinks. It was about linking up with your people, vibing to live music, celebrating local talent and simply having a good time. It’s where Kenya comes together, not just to celebrate beer, but our incredible culture.

Tusker Oktobafest has grown from a simple beer event to an appreciation of local brews and the various flavours they come in. Whether you’re sipping on something classic or trying the latest craft brew, you are part of Kenya’s evolving beer story.

This year’s festival showed just how far we’ve come since 2019. From a single event to this massive celebration of Kenyan beer culture. Our beer scene has truly levelled up. It’s better than ever, thanks to Tusker Oktobafest.
