The Redmi Note 11 Pro review; value for money

The Redmi Note 11 series was launched in Kenyan market back in February, the phone has three variants that is the Redmi Note 11, Redmi Note 11S and the Redmi Note 11 Pro.

Earlier this month, we got to test drive the Redmi Note 11 and you can find the review here. This time around, we have we gotten the chance to have a look at the Redmi Note 11 Pro and here are our thoughts.

Out of the Box

The phone comes with;

  • Protective case
  • Charger + usb cable
  • Sim ejector pin
  • Warranty & user guide documents

Design

The Redmi Note 11 Pro comes with a glass back which has a matte finish giving the phone a premium look. It also ensures that there are no fingerprint smudges and also makes it easier to hold.

The phone rocks a 6.7 inches screen with 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution which ensures that colors are brought out vividly. An aspect ratio of 20:9 ensures that you have a sharp screen that displays text and other details clearly.  The 120Hz refresh rate means that you are guaranteed to have a very smooth experience while using the phone. However, this is set at 60Hz so as to conserve the battery, as such you need to change it so as to enjoy the full experience.

The Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G screen’s peak brightness is 1200 nits and 700 nits, for the High Brightness Mode (HBM). In direct sunlight the calibration of the screen shifts to improve visibility, playing with color and contrast for the best result.

It has a Gorilla Glass 5 display cover which means that the screen is not likely to break at the slightest fall. However, should you have slippery fingers, it is advisable to install a screen protector.

An IP53 rating means that it has water/dust resistance which means that it can withstand water splashes but not submersion so don’t take it out for a swim.

The phone has some pretty good stereo speakers which you can rock to without necessarily needing a Bluetooth speaker.

The fingerprint scanner is located at the right side of the phone where it doubles up as the power button. The volume rocker is located just above the fingerprint scanner on the right side of the phone

The sim slot which holds two micro-Sims and a microSD card expansion is located at the bottom of the phone together with a mono speaker and the charging port.

Performance

The Redmi Note 11 Pro comes with Android 11 straight out of the box and a MIUI 13 interface. It also comes with some preinstalled apps like PUGB Mobile, Spotify, Facebook, Mi Remote and some games which I doubt anyone would be interested in. However, these can be uninstalled with ease.

Under the hood, the Note 11 Pro rocks a Mediatek Helio G96 processor, Mali-G57 GPU plus 128GB internal storage and 8 GB of RAM and a 3GB dynamic RAM which can boost the RAM to 11GB.  Given these specs, I did not experience any lag while using the phone be it while streaming, switching between apps or even gaming.

Cameras

The phones comes with a quad camera setup at the back which consists of 108 MP wide + 8 MP ultrawide + 2 MP macro + 2 MP depth module, at the front we have a 16 MP selfie camera.

The phone has the standard shooting modes like Photo, Portrait, Video, Night and Pro modes but also includes 108MP, Short video, Panorama, Document, Slow motion, Time-lapse, Long exposure and Dual video modes.

The Redmi Note 11 Pro takes some good-looking photos, packed with detail, and also captures respectable dynamic range.

Check out some of the pictures that I took with the phone.

Battery

Just like the Redmi Note 11, the Note 11 Pro comes with a 5,000mAh capacity battery. It held up rather well under both heavy and moderate usage. Under heavy usage, which included social media, gaming and streaming the battery lasted about two days.  One can be able to extend battery life through the superpower saving mode feature.

To achieve maximum battery life, it is advisable to use the 60Hz refresh rate as opposed to 120Hz which drains the battery.

The phone supports 67W charging which can get you from flat to 50% in 15 minutes and a full charge taking about 50 minutes.
